Biography

Charles Grippo is an author, playwright, composer/ lyricist, attorney, producer, and investor. His plays include Sex Marks the Spot; A Wife’s Tale; Thursday in the Park; Wait for the Wind; and The Tooth of the Matter. They have been produced off Broadway, as well as in Cortland, New York; Indiana; Chicago; and in Ojai, California. His short stories have been published in national magazines.

He is the author of The Stage Producer’s Business and Legal Guide, and Business and Legal Forms for Theater, both of which have been published by Allworth Press. They are available at fine bookstores nationwide, as well as at leading online booksellers.

Mr. Grippo has presented plays by Neil Simon and David Mamet through New Lincoln Theatre Productions. He also owns Charles Grippo Productions. He practices theater, music, and motion picture law. A nationally recognized authority on entertainment law, he is a much sought after speaker. Mr. Grippo divides his time among the cities of Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.

Mr. Grippo was also the founder, owner, and first editor of SHOWSTOPPER Magazine.

Mr. Grippo is a member of the Authors Guild, the Dramatists Guild, Chicago Dramatists Workshop, Attorney's Title Guaranty Fund, and Chicago Writer’s Bloc. He is a director emeritus of the Chicago Alliance for Playwrights. His biography appears in Contemporary Authors, Volume 235.

His hobbies include: Golf, travel, jazz, hiking/backpacking. He plays piano and the Hammond B-3 organ.
